Remembering Dada Kondke in Corona Days

There was a song in the old Dada Kondke Marathi film:

गेली सांगून ज्ञानेश्वरी की  माणसा परीस मेंढरं बरी
Google Translation says:  It is said that Dnyaneshwari, that man is a fair sheep

Human Translation says: Great 11th Century Maharashtrian Saint Dnyaneshwar said in his epic commentary on BhagwadGita titled 'Dynaheshwari" that Lambs are worthier than humans.

Just to digress that human intelligence is effective than Artificial one. But that's for debate on another day. Just as all other things are on full stop lets stop all other topics but focus on an immediate hashtag that is trending: Corona (or Go Corona). Though I admit that I am myself sick of all those corona forwards, humor and memes but still I join herd mentality

The context of the song means that they are loving/loyal to their owners and follow them everywhere. remember the nursery rhyme

I will need to do ample study what exactly is depicted in Dynaheshwari which I promise to do in the later posts.

But as Dada Kondke is the king of double meaning, I have a different double meaning take on the situation.

Are lambs better equipped to coronavirus as they follow instructions given by administrators which we as humans fail: List is long. We

  • Don't follow quarantine/self-quarantine
  • Don't follow precautions
  • Don't Maintain social distancing as suggested
  • Hoard items
  • Spread Rumors on various platforms
  • Don't maintain public hygiene

But as with Dada Kondke's figure of speech, 'being lambs' also has its disadvantages like to follow a herd mentality. There is another list of things I am fed of doing as apart of the herd which has resulted in panic and irrational social, economical and medical behavior

  • Spread forwards about CoronaVirus 24by7
  • Panic on issues of daily disruption.
  • lack rational behavior both on work and life
But then its easier during this unprecedented time to blame everything under the sun but difficult to think rationally and act decisively.

Most important thing humanity has learned that
  1. New Virus stains and resulting contagion is a reality and we need well-established documented norms and command structure to deal with such future situations
  2. Need of multinational command chain to address calamities in the days of globalization
  3. Businesses should be prepared and evolve models to survive such situations
But then I admit that we are in unknown zone of darkness. I pray and wish that let there be light...

Better said in Sanskrit

ॐ असतो मा सद्गमय।

तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय।
मृत्योर्मामृतं गमय ॥
ॐ शान्ति शान्ति शान्तिः

(and do not refer to Jyotiradiitya confirming to Dada Kondke school of double meaning)

and i know i cannot be serious
