गुडीपाडव्याच्या आणि नवीन वर्षाच्या हार्दिक शुभेच्छा

हे इंग्रजी वर्ष आले तेंव्हा नवीन दशकाच्या आशा आणि  आकांक्षा पुढील तीन महिन्यात सगळ्या विरून गेल्या. पण तरीही हिंदू नववर्ष परत नवीन आशा नवीन आकांक्षा घेऊन आले आहे. सर्व इडा पीडा टळो, आपण सर्व अजून जोमाने घरून कामाला लागू. बघा. आपण दसऱ्या ला सीमोल्लंघन करतो तसे गुडी पाडव्या ला सीमा कक्षेत राहून नवीन गुढ्या उभारू . (दोन्ही वेळा घरात बासुंदीच  असुदे बरे का ) . हे एक युद्धच आहे पण शत्रू एक जिवाणू आहे .  असे जीवाणू आणि पर्यावरणातील बदलांमुळे येणारी संकटं येत राहणार हे आता मानून चालू आणि त्याप्रमाणे तयार राहू. 

Remembering Dada Kondke in Corona Days

There was a song in the old Dada Kondke Marathi film:

गेली सांगून ज्ञानेश्वरी की  माणसा परीस मेंढरं बरी
Google Translation says:  It is said that Dnyaneshwari, that man is a fair sheep

Human Translation says: Great 11th Century Maharashtrian Saint Dnyaneshwar said in his epic commentary on BhagwadGita titled 'Dynaheshwari" that Lambs are worthier than humans.

Just to digress that human intelligence is effective than Artificial one. But that's for debate on another day. Just as all other things are on full stop lets stop all other topics but focus on an immediate hashtag that is trending: Corona (or Go Corona). Though I admit that I am myself sick of all those corona forwards, humor and memes but still I join herd mentality

एक दिवस एक आचार:परीक्षे चे दिवस

फेब्रुवारी मार्च एप्रिल हा लहानपणी परीक्षेचा  काळ असायचा. असायचा का सध्या देखील असतो सध्या च्या लहानांना .

घरात कर्फ्यू . टी व्ही  बंद , खेळायला जायचा लिमिटेड टाइम. आमच्या घराला एक गच्ची होती . पूर्वी म्हणजे अगदी ८५ पर्यंत तिथून पर्वती दिसायची .एका अँगल मधून तोरणा पण दिसायचा , अगदी सीडी ला कात्रजच्या  घाटाचे डोंगर पण दिसायचे.  नंतर त्याबाजूला  असलेला  वाडा पडून उंच इमारत झाली . मग ते दृश्य आणी येणारं  वारा दोन्ही संपले . असो . त्या गच्चीवर टेबले लॅम्प आणि स्टूल घेऊन आम्ही (मी आणि माझी बहीण) अभ्यास करायचो. पूर्ण वर्षभर युनिट टेस्ट आणी  सहा माही चा थोडा काळ सोडला तर अभ्यास हा फक्त होमवर्क करण्याकरिता . लक्ष फक्त क्रिकेट बघणे आणि खेळणे , गॅथेरिन्ग ची नाटके, टी व्ही , गप्पा टप्पा . पोरशन संपवायची घाई . पाठ करणे, उत्तरे वाचणे, आकृती काढ्याची प्रॅक्टिस . आकृतीची भीती वाटायची. गणिते सोडवणे . एका वाक्यात उत्तर, कारणे द्या , संदर्भा सहित स्पष्टीकरण , जोड्या लावा, गाळलेल्या जागा भरा . अजूनही सगळे आठवून अंगाला काटा येतो.  परीक्षे चा शेवटचा दिवस कॅलेंडर वर मार्केड असायचा. तो दिवस येतो आणि शेवटचा पेपर जेंव्हा परीक्षकांच्या हातात  देतो तो सुवर्णक्षण सगळ्यात महत्वाचा . मग नाचत घरी येऊन दप्तर कधी फेकतो असे व्हायचे . काही मुलांच्या परीक्षा अगोदर संपायच्या . त्यांचा हेवा वाटायचा . ते पण जोरजोरात खेळून आम्हाला खिजवायचे. मग आपली संपली कि दुसऱ्यांना खिजवायचे. तेंव्हा मोबाईल इंटरनेट नव्हते म्हणून सुट्ट्या खूप एन्जॉय करायचो . सध्याची मुले काय करतात हे माहित नाही कॅम्पस असतात, गेम्स , टी व्ही , टूर्स असतात म्हणा . पण अजूनही फेब्रुवारी ते एप्रिल हा काळ आठवतो त्यावेळी डाएट हि वेगळे असायचे. भाजी पोळी चा भरणा जास्त. बाहेरचे खायचे नाही . होळी /रंगपंचमी खेळायची नाही. घरात आम्ही उत्सवमूर्ती . फार लाड .

मोठेपणी परीक्षा रोज असते . त्यामुळे आता तयारी आणी अभ्यास रोज करायला लागतो . प्रत्येकाची परीक्षा वेगळी . मग ती ऑफिस ची असो, पॅरेंटिंग ची असो, ट्रॅफिक जामची असो ,  आरोग्याची असो , संगीताची असो कसली ही असो

दशक सुरु होऊन दोन महिने झाले . इराण च्या धमक्या , कोरोना ची दहशत  , शत्रू पुरस्कृत दंगली, CAAचा  अनावश्यक  विरोध, मंदी ह्या परीक्षा समोर उभ्या आहेत. पाहिजे तो अभ्यास, आत्मविश्वास, शांत डोके आणि नियोजन. अगदी शाळेच्या वेळेसारखे. जशी वार्षिक परीक्षा एप्रिल पर्यंत संपते तश्या ह्या परीक्षा ही संपावी अशी देवाकडे प्रार्थना . तो सुटण्या चा दिवस कधी आहे हे मात्र माहित नाही

Being Popular: Teenagers and Elite Liberals

Another day, on an august Whatsapp forum comprising of stalwarts in India Inc., Valley, and Wall Street,  and others all tied by an Almamater. The discussion was CAA /NRC, Delhi Riots, Trump and of course eventually as every road leads to Rome (coincidentally an Italian city) all the conversations lead to Modi. The similar discussion happened in a US group and you can guess who was the target equivalent of Modi.

Being an elite educated and liberal group no stone was spared to render a valuable opinion about how Modi is detrimental to the country internally and throughout the world. Forget about all hoopla and bugbear created by secular mafia about CAA NRC. Forget unjustified opposition to CAA which has nothing to do against Indian Muslim Citizen or NPR/NRC which is just a registry of citizens.  Forget about media which is creating an atmosphere that the whole of India is opposing CAA. Forget International media which is misreporting issues concerning India and India liberal media false reporting Delhi riots (causes and effects). Forget the conspiracy as obvious as its timing to exactly portray Indian in a bad light. End of the India’s images tarnished, Valuable lives lost across the divide and property damaged. Very sad indeed but discussion finally ended up as competition to who sounded as most profound philosopher by criticizing everything right of the center while hypocritically silent on what I term as ‘elephant in the room’ that is: The international pattern of inhuman and uncivil practices in the name of religion resulting in terror on another side of the political divide. It’s very high time for all sensible and humane/civil heads across the divide to sit and correct the wrong philosophies and belief while being tolerant and follow old philosophy of 'live and let live' as well as “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam”( Global citizenship) which India and Hinduism stood for as described effectively by Swami Vivekananda( forget the pronunciation). But that’s a point beyond this discussion.
