Hostel Nightlife
There is a lot of discussion about 'Nightlife in Mumbai'decision by the new non- elected government of Maharashtra. For a hostel veteran like me, it reminded me of  Nightlife there and felt this is a non-issue.
People who slept before 2 am were red-carded. Few used to sleep later than that while few didn't sleep at all for a few days especially during exams. There were few exceptions who used to sleep early and woke up at 4 am ensuing 24/7 continuity of chaos at the Hostel. Just like City, the hostel never sleeps.
Some used to study some used to waste time chatting in the rooms. Some listened to while some played music. Few drama enthusiasts like me used to practice drama. Some watched TV in the common room. Some played TT. Some played Chess,. Norenda's canteen was a savior for residents as somehow mess people used to serve the messiest food possible. Menu of Egg omelet, scrambled eggs, Maggie,  chowmein, egg sandwiches/burgers, tea, coffee, lemon juice was magical. I still remember the taste. Chat topics continued late into night ranging from new movie release, cricket, studies, career, politics, foreign policies, inter hostel rivalry (refer movies Chichore), girls hostel, professors, whatever under this sun.
Remember a song: Koi lautade mere beete hue din.....
