Ganguly has a special place in History

My fascination of bengal does not seem to end having spent 4 golden years of life in sonar bangla.
Bengali sweets, festivals, culture, literarturs, films and most importantly beautiful eyes of bengali girls... they all mesmerise me. Add to that list a fighter's name: Dada..
Flashback to year 2000: venue Nairobi: A new born indian team had done wonders... Match fixing scandal had ended old guard, misplaced optimism in sachin as a leader had taken Indian cricket to ground zero... Here comes dada.. leading bunch of youngsters all the way till finals. Started winning overseas test, held aussie invincibles in India (thanks to bhajji, vvs and dravid), natwest finals, world cup finals, australia in australia, pak in pak... Till worst season of 2004 India had arrived... Maybe dada got so focussed on leading that his own performance dropped. a lesson for all us aspiring leaders...
He gave opposition eye for an eye, inspired youngsters, believed in them, put himself in line of fire to protect them, identified roles, innovated, all qualities excpet his own performance...
His own performance also has panache, grit and determination, god of offside, useful bowling. remember those offdrives, those performances in toronto against pakistan when indo pak cricket was very rare as against now. he had limitations but he managed to hold on...
Will there be another chapter to his fable. lets wait and watch, esp with Dada you never know. Never count him out of match...
